About CultureMelt

CultureMelt is a list of disappearing places.  Places where you used to meet friends, have a beer, see some music or maybe eat some food that had meaning to you.  We list them here to maintain our sense of cultural continuity.

How often have you been walking down the street and you pass a building less than 2 years old – and you struggle to remember what used to be there? Then it hits you, that used to be my favorite little cafe, in a charming little run-down building. They had delicious sandwiches and you simply can’t find soup like that anymore. The clientele was west-coast lefty and the people running it certainly wouldn’t vote Republican. These were your people, and just by being there you were taking part in a larger conversation about your philosophy of life.

About the google ads  – we figured we’d give it a try just to see how they work. The deal is, if you click on one of those ads, we get a microscopic payment of a few cents and it costs you nothing. We don’t get paid until we earn $100 – so far after several months we have earned $0.57! So go ahead, click on something, it won’t hurt you, and eventually we’ll earn enough to throw a little party to celebrate our crass commercialism.
